Once a year, in March, we also organise a full weekend of yoga at Cober Hill, Cloughton, near Scarborough, when we book an international teacher to help inspire us with their own unique style of yoga.
The Darlington area has always been very active in all aspects of yoga. Classes are available most days and evenings and are suitable for all levels of fitness (unless otherwise stated). Follow the Classes link for details of what’s available or contact one of our Committee members who will be happy to help (follow the Contacts link for names and contact details of Committee members).
Yoga is distinctly different from most forms of exercise, in that it generates motion without causing strain or imbalances in the body. When practised correctly, it has no negative effects and in fact counteracts many of the problems suffered in modern life. It has been shown to offer both physical and mental benefits, and is a great way for people of any age to get and stay in shape. Yoga has both preventive and therapeutic benefits, so is particularly good for arthritis, ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), MS (Multiple Sclerosis), stress, asthma and other breathing problems.
Darlington Yoga Group can supply equipment to yoga practitioners. For more details and prices follow the Equipment link.
