Darlington Yoga Group

Darlington Yoga Group (DYG) is a not-for-profit organisation that was set up over thirty years ago by a group of British Wheel of Yoga teachers to help promote all aspects of yoga in the Darlington area, as we really do believe that yoga is for everybody. We run monthly Saturday morning sessions at the Millennium Centre, Ravensdale Road, Darlington, when we have guest tutors from around the region. You can view the programme of forthcoming “pay on the door” sessions by following the Events link. These sessions are suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced students and everyone will be most welcome to come along and join in.

Once a year, in March, we also organise a full weekend of yoga at Cober Hill, Cloughton, near Scarborough, when we book an international teacher to help inspire us with their own unique style of yoga.

The Darlington area has always been very active in all aspects of yoga. Classes are available most days and evenings and are suitable for all levels of fitness (unless otherwise stated). Follow the Classes link for details of what’s available or contact one of our Committee members who will be happy to help (follow the Contacts link for names and contact details of Committee members).

Yoga is distinctly different from most forms of exercise, in that it generates motion without causing strain or imbalances in the body. When practised correctly, it has no negative effects and in fact counteracts many of the problems suffered in modern life. It has been shown to offer both physical and mental benefits, and is a great way for people of any age to get and stay in shape. Yoga has both preventive and therapeutic benefits, so is particularly good for arthritis, ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), MS (Multiple Sclerosis), stress, asthma and other breathing problems.

Please note:-

Sadly DYG will cease in its current form after our last session which will be in November.
We just don't have enough volunteers to continue.
